The Best Blush For Your Skin Type

The Best Blush For Your Skin Type

Posted By Nicole
Finding the right shade of blush comes down to personal preference, but from powders to cheek stains, you should be using the formulation that best compliments your skin type.

Powder Blush (best for oily skin)

Powder blush is good for all skin types because it mattifies the oily parts of your skin making it last all day. You can use it wet or dry for a soft or dramatic look. Powder blushes are long-lasting and dense in color, but can change in color as it absorbs into the skin. A soft blending brush works really well for diffusing any harsh edges that the powder blush may create.

TRY: T.Leclerc Powder Blush 03 - Brun Rose

Cream Blush (best for dry complexions)

Cream blush works well on drier skin complexions because it allows the skin's natural radiance to show through while hydrating and nourishing your skin. It creates a soft, dewy look but may fade quickly on oily skin and sometimes doesn't blend well with matte foundations. To apply, blend it in using an upward circular motion and make sure to blend really well to prevent it from being too pigmented.

TRY: Butter London Cheeky Cream Blush - Ruby Murray

Cheek tint/stain (best for long-lasting color)

Cheek tints are super long-wearing and give hours of natural flush to your cheeks. Ensure to blend immediately after application. Tints and stains give a beautiful natural look and have serious staying powder however, can sometimes be a little bit difficult to apply. To apply, gently pat the blush into your skin and then blend it in with a sponge (a beautyblender works great!l) or a firmer brush.

TRY: Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint

Mineral Blush (best for sensitive skin)

Mineral blushes are ideal for breakout-prone skin since they are non-irritating. The minerals tend to reflect light giving a gorgeous glow. Mineral powders are ideal if you have sensitive skin, acne, or redness, but beware of too much shimmer or glitter. Apply with a blush brush similar to how you would apply a powder blush - focusing on the apples of your cheeks and blending into surrounding areas.
