How to Prevent Scary Skin Woes this Halloween

Thinking of what look to pull off this Halloween? If you are planning to wear a heavy-duty foundation or body paint, don't forget your skin! Makeup lets you create and try endless looks but they can easily go wrong and might be pretty bad for your skin. We've rounded up some scary skin woes that you can prevent before the spooky nights ahead.


 
Scary Skin Woe #1: Acne
 
Heavy makeup is in whenever its Halloween but definitely not for skin - especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. Makeup does clog pores which can reduce oil and bacteria build-up resulting to acne. What makes it worse is when you tried using poor quality makeup which will surely wreak havoc on your skin. Now is the best time to ditch cheap cosmetics and invest in high quality, non-comedogenic makeup that is less likely to clog pores and cause breakouts.
 
Scary Skin Woe #2: Dryness
 
Most face paint and costume makeup tend to dry out the skin. This is why you should prepare your facial skin before applying makeup. Start with a clean, dry face as your base. Apply a moisturizer or opt for a hydrating primer to lock in moisture and to keep your paint or foundation from sliding. Spritz a face mist for a quick touch-up.

Scary Skin Woe #3: Premature Wrinkles
 
When your skin becomes too dry, chances are early signs of aging particularly premature wrinkles will start haunting you. To prevent them from coming, better use an anti-aging moisturizer. Not only it will counteract fine lines but it will also help you to have a smooth makeup application. Remember to wash off your makeup well before bedtime as wrinkles can be your worst nightmare.

Scary Skin Woe #4: Inflammation
 
Adding a special touch of Halloween in your eye makeup is not worth a sight-threatening eye infection from improper application and use of poor eye cosmetics. Most eye makeup contains preservatives in order to prevent bacterial growth. Furthermore, if you have been using your eye cosmetics for too long, the more likely they already have bacteria that can infect your eyelid. This results in swelling and redness. Always clean your beauty tools and only use below 6-month old makeup such as eyeliner, mascara, brow liner, and eyeshadow.
